Santen and its affiliates operate other programs, websites and mobile applications that are not subject to this Policy. In particular, unless otherwise provided in this Policy, this Policy does not cover our offline data practices.
If you do not agree with any part of this Policy, please do not use the Site.
Information Collection and Usage
What personal information do we collect?
When you use the Site, for example, to provide us with contact information or to apply for a job with us, we or our service providers may collect information that could reasonably be used to contact you or to identify you personally, such as your name, email address, telephone number, mobile phone number, geographic location, zip code or mailing address (“Personal Information”). You may use our Site to ask questions or report problems regarding our investigational and marketed products. If you do this, we will have your email address as well as whatever health-related and/or personal facts you choose to include in your correspondence. If you are reporting a product experience involving one of our investigational products, we may ask you for specific facts, including patient initials, age, gender, and prescribing physician. Federal regulations require us to collect patient-identifiable information in order to file reports with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration regarding the safety of our investigational products.
For Healthcare Providers
If you are a medical professional and disclose Personal Information about a patient through the Site, you and you alone bear the sole obligation and responsibility of obtaining any patient consents and/or authorization for such disclosure that may be required under federal, state or other applicable law.
How do we use your information?
Any information you submit on the Site may be used for a variety of purposes, including, for example, to:
respond to your questions and requests;
process your application for employment, including requesting any additional information, responding to your questions and informing you of other employment positions that may be of interest to you (through our personnel or third-party recruiters contracted on our behalf);
provide you with access to certain features of the Site;
verify your identity;
improve the Site;
contact you about your use of the Site;
in our discretion, to make changes to the Site or any of our policies;
comply with legal requirements; and
detect, prevent, and respond to actual or suspected fraud, security breach, intellectual property infringement, other violations of law, violations of our Terms and Conditions and/or other misuse of our Site.

We may use your Personal Information to send you relevant promotions, personalized information, or updates or newsletters with information that you have requested or that may interest you.
Information We Collect Automatically
Whenever you visit or interact with the Site, we may use a variety of technologies that automatically or passively collect information about how you access or use the Site (“Usage Information”). Usage Information may include your browser type, operating system, the page served, the time, and the preceding page views. However, this information does not identify you as an individual user. We do not treat Usage Information as Personal Information unless it is combined with other data that, once linked, can be used to identify you.
We may collect information about you or your use of the Sites through cookies, tracking pixels, mobile identifiers or other technologies. We use this information to better understand, customize and improve the Site, our services and offerings as well as to manage our advertising. The information we collect through cookies, tracking pixels or mobile identifiers may help us understand how visitors use and engage with the Site. If you have provided us with your Personal Information via the Site, we may associate this Personal Information with information we have collected through cookies, tracking pixels, mobile identifiers or other technologies.
What are cookies?
A “cookie” is a small file containing a string of characters that is sent to your computer when you visit a website. When you visit the website again, the cookie allows that site to recognize your browser. Cookies may store user preferences and other information. You can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, some website features or services may not function properly without cookies.
How to modify cookie settings
You can choose to have your computer warn you each time a cookie is being sent, or you can choose to turn off all cookies. You do this through your browser settings. Since each browser is a little different, look at your browser’s Help Menu to learn the correct way to modify your cookies.
If you turn cookies off, some of the features that make your site experience more efficient may not function properly.
The Site may also automatically collect your IP address or other unique identifier (“Device Identifier”) for the computer, mobile device, technology or other device (collectively, “Device”) you use to access the Site. A Device Identifier is a number that is automatically assigned to your Device when you access a web site or its servers, and our computers identify your Device by its Device Identifier. We may use a Device Identifier to, among other things, administer the Site, help diagnose problems with our servers, analyze trends, track users’ web page movements, help identify, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use.
Small graphic images or other web programming code called web beacons (also known as “1×1 GIFs,” “one pixel GIFs,” or “clear GIFs”) may be included in our web pages and email messages. Web beacons may be invisible to you, but any electronic image or other web programming code inserted into a web page or email can act as a web beacon. Web beacons or similar technologies may be used for a number of purposes, including, without limitation, to count visitors to the Site, to monitor how users navigate the Site, to make cookies more effective, to count how many emails that were sent were actually opened or to count how many particular articles or links were actually viewed.
We may use software development kits (“SDKs”) or mobile advertising identifiers (for example, “IDFA” on Apple mobile devices or “Advertising ID” on Android mobile devices), which function similarly to cookies on mobile devices. You may reset your IDFA or Advertising ID in the settings on your mobile device.
We use tools like Google Analytics to measure traffic to the Site and how users interact with the Site. At various times, we may also use other tools to measure the efficacy of our marketing campaigns. Do Not Track
Currently the Site is not designed to respond to “Do Not Track” signals sent from your browser.
How We May Use Your Information
We may share your Personal Information with third parties that perform functions on our behalf (“Service Providers”) as necessary to carry out your requests, respond to your inquiries or make various features of the Site available to you. These Service Providers may help us to host or operate the Site, analyze data, provide customer service, conduct marketing or administer surveys or questionnaires.
We may share your information, including your Personal Information, with our subsidiaries and affiliates for internal reasons, primarily for business and operational purposes. We may share or transfer your information, including your Personal Information, in connection with a merger, sale, acquisition, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, bankruptcy or other change of ownership or control by SANTEN or any affiliated company (in each case, whether in whole or in part).
We may share aggregated and/or anonymous information that does not directly identify you for our business purposes and that information may be combined with the non-personal information of other users. For example, we may disclose the number of users of certain products or services or the number of visitors to our Site and the activities they conduct while on our Site. We may also share aggregated and/or anonymous information with our business partners for their own business purposes.
Your Privacy Choices and Access
You may always direct us not to share your Personal Information with third parties, not to use your Personal Information to provide you with information or offers, or not to send you newsletters, updates, emails or other communications by:
- sending us an email at Privacy-USA@santen.com; or
- following the removal or unsubscribe instructions in the communication that you receive.
In accordance with our routine record keeping, we may delete certain records that contain Personal Information that you have submitted through the Site. We are under no obligation to store such Personal Information indefinitely and disclaim any liability arising out of, or related to, the destruction of such Personal Information.
In addition, you should be aware that it is not always possible to completely remove or delete all of your information from our databases without some residual data because of backups or other technology-related reasons.
Links to Other Websites
The Site may contain links to other sites, maintained by third parties. These links are provided only as a convenience to you. SANTEN and its subsidiaries and affiliated companies have no control over, and are not responsible for, any content, products or services offered by or found on third party sites or their privacy policies. Links to third party sites do not constitute an assumption of liability for or sponsorship, endorsement or approval of these sites or the content contained on these sites.
Does our site allow third-party behavioral tracking?
It’s important to note that we do not allow third-party behavioral tracking.
COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act)
When it comes to the collection of personal information from children under the age of 13 years old, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) puts parents in control. The Federal Trade Commission, United States’ consumer protection agency, enforces the COPPA Rule, which spells out what operators of websites and online services must do to protect children’s privacy and safety online.
We do not specifically market or collect information from children under 13 years of age. If we learn that a child under the age of 13 has provided us with any Personal Information without first receiving their parent or guardian’s verified consent, we will use that information only to respond directly to that child (or his or her parent or legal guardian) to inform the child that he or she cannot use the Site. We will then dispose of such Personal Information in accordance with this Policy. The CAN-SPAM Act is a law that sets the rules for commercial email, establishes requirements for commercial messages, gives recipients the right to have emails stopped from being sent to them, and spells out tough penalties for violations.
We collect your email address in order to:
- Send information, respond to inquiries, and/or other requests or questions
To be in accordance with CAN-SPAM, we agree to the following:
- Not use false or misleading subjects or email addresses.
- Identify the message as an advertisement in some reasonable way.
- Include the physical address of our business or site headquarters.
- Monitor third-party email marketing services for compliance, if one is used.
- Honor opt-out/unsubscribe requests quickly.
- Allow users to unsubscribe by using the link at the bottom of each email.
If at any time you would like to unsubscribe from receiving future emails, you can contact us and we will promptly remove you from ALL correspondence.

If you are located in the European Union or elsewhere (including Canada) outside of the United States, please be aware that information we collect may be transferred to and processed in the United States. By providing us with any information, you (a) acknowledge that the Site is subject to the laws of the United States and Canada, (b) consent to the collection, processing, maintenance and transfer of your information in and to the United States and other applicable territories in which the privacy laws may not be as comprehensive as or equivalent to those in the country where you reside and/or are a citizen, and (c) waive any claims that may arise under those laws.
